Ranieri fears the chop | World Soccer

Chelsea coach Claudio Ranieri admits that he he would not be surprised to be sacked by the club.

The arrival of Peter Kenyon as the club’s chief executive this week, has heightened speculation about Ranieri’s position.

“I know very well that when a chief executive changes usually the manager changes,” the Italian said at a news conference on Friday.

“It’s unusual for the previous manager to stay. But I will try to work against the usual story.”

Kenyon uppedthe ante when hestatedthat the season would be deemed a failure if Chelsea failed to lift a trophy.

Ranieri whose side are still in contention for three trophies, seemed unperturbed by the remarks.

“We will try to win, of course, that is our ambition…but I will continue to build. I will continue my way.”

“I want to do something long term. I want a Chelsea for the future. If I am here to enjoy the fruits that’s good but if I’m not…that’s the way of it,” he added.
